Our Story

The Taste of Malabar, far from home

ഞങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച്

Kunjikkas is a love letter to the food of Malabar — cooked the slow, patient, old way, and served in the heart of Dubai.

How it began

A coastal kitchen, recreated in Karama

Malabar food is built on patience. Spices toasted until they bloom, meat braised low and slow, rice layered with ghee and time — flavours that can't be rushed. At Kunjikkas we cook the way the kitchens back home always have, because we believe that taste is a kind of memory worth keeping.

Alongside the biryanis and the curries, we press our juices fresh to order — fruit, ice and nothing else — so every glass tastes of sunshine rather than syrup. It's a small thing, but it's the kind of small thing Malabar is made of.

When we landed in Al Karama, Dubai, we set out to build more than a café. We wanted a little corner of the coast — a place where the food, the warmth and the welcome all feel like home, however far from home you are.

What we stand for

Made the Malabar way

Four things we never cut corners on — the quiet promises behind every plate that leaves our kitchen.

Traditional Malabar Taste

Recipes carried straight from the kitchens of Malabar — the way they were always meant to be.

Fresh Ingredients

Juices pressed to order, no added preservatives — just fruit, ice and a little sunshine.

Authentic Recipes

Slow-cooked biryani, hand-pressed pathiri and curries simmered the old, patient way.

Made With Love

Every plate leaves our kitchen the way we would serve it to our own family.

“Food is how Malabar remembers itself. We just cook it the way our grandmothers did — slowly, generously, and with love you can taste.”
